Trump: US Role in Afghanistan Has Become ‘Ridiculous’ Police Force

Speaking on Afghanistan, President Trump remained non-committal on the peace plan being negotiated with the Taliban, continuing to say only that “we’ll see what happens.” He did, however, point toward clearly being inclined to end the war. Saudi coalition forces are carrying out a flurry of airstrikes against camps around the Yemeni capital city of Sanaa. They have warned civilians to avoid Houthi-held camps, saying they will be attacked.

Pentagon Officials Eager to Present a Recovering ISIS, Facts Don’t Support It

Throughout August, one of the most persistent stories has been the claim that ISIS is making a substantial recovery in Iraq and Syria, a claim based on a single Pentagon report which implied only that this might potentially be the case.

Pentagon Tests Previously Banned Cruise Missile

On Sunday, the Pentagon tested a conventionally-configured (i.e. non-nuclear) cruise missile at San Nicolas Island, California. The missile flew over 500 km and officials described it as accurately impacting.
